"Cinco De Mayo" Words and Music by Gary Snead Copyright 2005 El Presidente Benito Juarez, Had massive troubles with Mexico's debt, His treasury broke, He came out and spoke, Foreign payments he'd have to forget Napoleon the Third was in power, In France in that fateful year, He was quite incensed, And so he did send, His army and all of their gear They'd take over the Mexican Nation, To insure that their money they'd get, They'd pillage and plunder, Drive Mexico under, And crush all resistance they met Chorus: Yo soy Mexicanos, Viva, La Batalia de Puebla they cried, It happened on Cinco de Mayo, And brought every Mexican pride Mr Juarez sent General Zaragosa, To the hamlet of Puebla to meet, France's superior forces, With cavalry on horses, And more guns than they'd care to greet Well the battle did rage for two hours, 'Til the French they were forced to retreat, The Mexican masses, Had kicked those French asses, Napoleon went down in defeat So when you celebrate Cinco de Mayo, On the fifth day of May each new year, Toast Ignasio Zaragosa, With a chilly mimosa, Or Maybe a Mexican Beer Chorus.... Repeat Chorus

Palm Trees, Nice Weather And A Couple Of Drinks ©2010 Words by Gary Snead and Steve Valentini Music by Gary Snead I was chatting with a friend of mine, Catching up while we were both online, We hadn't gotten together in a couple of years, Discussing jobs and our families, When we decided that him and me, Needed to rendevous and have ourselves a few beers We started thinking about meeting places, Somewhere warm with familiar faces, With tiki bars and no sign of a single ice rink, He said where didn't really matter, As long as the place we chose to gather, Has palm trees, nice weather and a couple of drinks Chorus 1: We want, palm trees, nice weather and a couple of drinks, A place that don't mind a few juvenile hi-jinks, Where conch fritters are fried in beer batter, And what you're wearing doesn't really matter, Give us, palm trees, nice weather and a couple of drinks Solo Chorus 2: We want, palm trees, nice weather and a couple of drinks, Our golf clubs and 18 holes on some tropical links, Where steamed shrimp beats fried in beer batter, And walking barefoot don't really matter, We want, palm trees, nice weather and a couple of drinks, We want, palm trees, nice weather and a couple of drinks, Give us, palm trees, nice weather and a couple of drinks...

To All The Friends I've Never Met Words and Music by Gary Snead ©2010 To all the friends I've never met, On FaceBook®, Twitter®, and the net, I celebrate them all, Together we could have a ball, And never even break a sweat To all the friends I've never met, On poker sites as I place my bet, We all think we're gonna win, That's how they pull us in, Until we're all knee deep in debt I know folks who build on Farmland, Or play that silly Mafia game, And the Pirates that rock the Caribbean, When it comes to killing time they’re all the same To all the friends I've never met, In uniform or now a vet, I'd be proud to shake their hand, For their defense of this great land, To all you friends who stem the threat To all the friends I've never met, Blonde, or redhead, or brunette, There's some with graying hair, But I don't really care, 'Cause they don't know I'm balding yet I locate my friends when they check in, On any of a dozen smartphone apps, And I wish that someone could explain that, It’s very rude to type in caps To all the friends I've never met, Who've told the jokes I didn't get, 'Cause they missed the punch line so, R...O...T...F. L... M... A... O, Maybe next time they won't forget To all the friends I've never met, On FaceBook®, Twitter®, or on the net, I hope someday we meet, So I can finally greet, All my friends I've never met I hope someday we meet, So I can finally greet, All my friends I've never met.... ®All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

Carolina Keys Words and Music by Gary Snead © 2005 Grew up in Kill Devil Hills, Where I got my first thrills, In Rodanthe I changed my life, In Buxton I've fished the night away, In Corolla I took me my wife From the waters of the Currituck and Albemarle sounds, Through Oregon Inlet to the open seas, Most of the best times I've had in my life, Happened here in the Carolina Keys I cruised the bypass just chillin', The beach road for women, In Okracoke I pitched my tent, Hatteras is where I built the home, Where the rest of my life will be spent From the waters of the Currituck and Albemarle sounds, Through Oregon Inlet to the open seas, Most of the best times I've had in my life, Happened here in the Carolina Keys The tourists they come here from near and from far, Take over every cottage and condo and bar, When they have to leave they're all giving their thanks, 'Cause they all feel like natives of our Outer Banks From the waters of the Currituck and Albemarle sounds, Through Oregon Inlet to the open seas, Some of the best times they've had in their lives, Happened here in the Carolina Keys From the waters of the Currituck and Albemarle sounds, Through Oregon Inlet to the open seas, All of the best times I've had in my life, Happened here....... in the Carolina Keys

Sandbar 04:21
Sandbar Words and Music © 1999 Gary Snead and William Ramsey When I'm out on the water and the temperature is hot, Sometimes I'll turn the boat around and find my favorite spot, The sea will turn from blue to green and I'll know I'm on the brink, I'll find a place to drop the anchor and pour my favorite drink Chorus: It's just a watery speakeasy about waist deep no more, It ain't got no bar stools but you can still see shore, A place where friends can gather and hang from mast or spar, You'll be your own bartender you'll own your own sandbar I've watched the big ships cruising up and down the bay, I've seen those cigarette boats they fly from cay to cay, I get tired when I watch jet skiers hot dogging all their tricks, I'll know it's time to find the bar and concoct my favorite mix Chorus Instrumental break Well summertime is ending and autumn's drawing near, It's time to put the boat away and stow my favorite gear, But I'll be back next season when Springtime is in reach . . . . And find a place to drop the anchor just off my favorite beach Chorus Repeat last line three times to end

The Rivah 03:07
“The Rivah” Words and Music by Gary Snead Copyright 1998© People from around these parts, Known as the Commonwealth, (No matter what their wealth) Head to the water on the weekends, To soothe their spirit and their health, They got cottages and trailers, And beachfront property, The only thing I know for sure, Is that the waterfront’s for me ‘Cause I’m goin’ to the Rivah, Not to the beach, ‘Cause it’s the only body of water, Within reach, Yeah, I’m goin’ to the Rivah, Not to the Bay, ‘Cause it’s my laid back chilled out, Weekend get-away Some people like their sailboats, Or their personal watercraft, I’ve seen preppy “come here” idiots, Who don’t know their fore from aft, I’ve seen jon-boats in the whitecaps, And big old Beetram Yachts, Seems the size of your boat is the only thing, Separating have’s from have not’s Chorus I think I’ll go and buy a place, Down by the river’s shore. ‘Cause I agree with all my yuppie friends, That less sucks I want more, And we’ll throw some wild beach parties, And invite you one and all, And if we ever need a band there, We’ll give B2B a call (We’ll give DKB a call) Chorus/Repeat Chorus

State of Confusion Words and Music by Gary Snead and William T Ramsey Copyright 2000 © I’m not sure I’ll ever know, All the things that I did wrong, They all just seemed to add right up, ‘Til the moment you were gone, I never seemed to say the right thing, I couldn’t change your point of view, Or overcome the years of hurt, And the pain that I’d caused you Well I was born in Alabama, Now I hail from Tennessee, But I live in the State of Confusion, Since you walked away from me Well now hindsight is twenty-twenty, Those are the words that you told me, But I couldn’t see the forest, For all of them damned trees, Oh girl I’m seeing clearly now, And I know why you wouldn’t wait, For all the good that knowing does, It’s just too little, too late Well I was born in Alabama, Now I hail from Tennessee, But I live in the State of Confusion, Since you walked away from me Well I was born in Alabama, Now I hail from Tennessee, But I live in the State of Confusion, Since you stopped loving me

about

The Stories I Can Tell...

The concept for this record came together from my live performances, and the stories that I would tell my audiences about the origins of the songs that I wrote... I give credit to two artists and friends whose live shows have revealed to me their mastery of the setup, David Carter and Hugo Duarte. Thanks for the lesson's guys!
